Clover's table and tab management features are essential for restaurants and bars. This guide covers how to open tabs, transfer items, apply split payments, and close out accurately at end of service.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Ensure 'Dining' or 'Table' mode is enabled in your Register app settings. Navigate to Setup > Devices > Register and confirm table management is active.
- To open a tab: in the Register app, select a table or tap 'New Order.' Add items and tap 'Save' (not 'Charge') to leave the tab open.
- To add items to an existing tab: select the open table/tab, tap 'Edit,' add items, and tap 'Save' again.
- To transfer a tab to another table: open the tab, tap the three-dot menu, and select 'Move to Table.' Choose the destination table.
- To split a check: open the tab, tap 'Split.' Choose even split, split by item, or custom amount.
- To close the tab: once all items are added, tap 'Charge.' Process each payment method until the full balance is paid.
- Confirm all open tabs are closed at end of shift to ensure proper batch settlement.
📌 Important Note: Open tabs not closed before batch settlement will remain as open orders in your system. Review the Orders section daily for any orphaned open tabs that need to be resolved.
